The mission of The Encouraging Word is “to share God’s Truth with a searching world.”

The vision is “to reach all people for Christ by all means possible.”

The values are:
1) God’s Word as absolute truth.
2) The local New Testament church.
3) The souls of all people.

History

In 1956 First Baptist Spartanburg began broadcasting the Sunday morning worship services on the local CBS affiliate WSPA. In 2004, under the leadership of Dr. Don Wilton, the vision was cast to extend the broadcast to a national audience, and on Easter Sunday 2005 The Encouraging Word began broadcasting. Today, The Encouraging Word reaches thousands of people each week in an effort to glorify God by teaching and preaching the message of Christ to all we can, by every available means, in such a way that people accept Christ and become active followers of Jesus through a local Christian Church.
