Generations are lost. The desire to be popular and to be accepted is a very attractive lure of the world!

“Train up a child in the way he should go, And when he is old he will not depart from it.” – Proverbs 22:6

It’s jolly tough to live in a manner that is pleasing to the love of the Father. It’s easy to get off track. Have you ever gotten off track in your walk with the Lord? Have you ever made a bad choice? Listen, there are many lures in our world; the path of life is full of thorns and snares.

Our children are not exempt from life’s challenges. Satan wants to create life-long strongholds in our children’s lives because of their choices. As parents and grandparents, our heart breaks for them as we see how they have drifted away from the Father’s love.

What can you do to help them? You can pray! There is power in prayer! “Behold, the Lord’s hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; Nor His ear heavy, that it cannot hear.” – Isaiah 59:1. There is no situation or circumstance where God cannot intervene to reach your adult child. He hears your prayers for them. So keep on praying mother, father, grandmother and grandfather!

Remember, God is in control. He gave us a promise. You might say, “But pastor, I was not a good parent.” All is not lost my friend, pour your heart out to the Lord about your life and ask for His forgiveness and help. Don’t stop loving them. Don’t stop welcoming them. Sometimes it takes a bit longer than we would like to see any change in their lives. Keep practicing your faith. You keep going, keep loving, keep praying, keep staying close.

I tell you, the hardest thing is when your grown children go through real dark waters and difficult times, and especially when it comes to their spiritual relationship with the Lord and it’s hard. Don’t stop loving them. Don’t stop forgiving them. Don’t stop welcoming them – even if they may say, “No thanks.” Yes, sometimes that is the hard part. Keep praying and keep your eyes on Jesus. He is always at work.
